So far the only fully certified biodynamic estate in Italy's Franciacorta region. Franciacorta produces traditional method sparkling wines from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The blend here is 85% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Noir, with the wine ageing for 30 months on lees.
Champagne Chartogne Taillet, Le Rose Brut NV, France
Alexandre Chartogne is the sole Champion of the terroir in the village of Merfy, once renowned for its grapes but forgotten in more recent years. In this vintage this rose is typically a blend of 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay, and is always characterised by a profound mineral character rarely found in rose Champagnes. Delicate and elegant but very vibrant, this shows subtle notes of mint and orange alongside the more typical strawberry and raspberry fruit notes.
